Second Blessings is a church resale store operated by Vidalia First UMC. The store, which is located on the corner of Highway 280 East and Church Street, is open on Fridays from 10:00am until 4:00 pm, and 10 - 1 pm on Saturdays. During those hours an all-volunteer staff receives and sells donated items. The store inventory includes a wide variety of items including antiques, furniture, decorative household items, linens, china, kitchen ware, books, jewelry, shoes, and clothing in excellent condition. All donors receive a receipt to be used for tax purposes. Arrangements may be made in advance to have large donated items picked up.
All proceeds raised by Second Blessings are returned to the church budget to support ministries and mission projects in our community and beyond. Some of the local ministries that Vidalia FUMC supports are Salvation Army, Mercy Medical Clinic, God's Storehouse, Paul Anderson Youth Home, Rachel's House, Dream Center, The Cancer Center at MRMC and many others. Having opened for business on September 30, 2011, Second Blessings has raised over $35,000 per year in the first four years of operation thanks to the generous donations of church members and friends in the community! More importantly, hundreds of customers have been prayed for and invited to our church services and countless Bibles have been given out to those who visit our store!
As this exciting ministry grows, we are seeking new
volunteers to clerk and cashier in the store. All volunteers work a three-hour
shift, either 10-1 or 1-4 on Friday or Saturday. We hope to be able to open
Second Blessings on Thursdays in the near future. If you are interested in
volunteering or if you need to arrange a pick up time for large items that you
wish to donate, please email us or call the church office.
